The most unexpected facts about school
< ! > There
are much more girls in the school than boys.
< ! >That is for sure one of the reasons
of good atmosphere in the school.
< ! > There are more ladies' rooms than gents
in the ratio of 3 to 1. But there are still queues in ladies' rooms
during breaks and this is always a good excuse for being late.
< ! >There are also much more female teachers
than male ones. I think it is characteristic for Polish schools.
< ! > Favourite subjects are: swimming pool
in first year (but only for boys), and civil defence course - first
and second years. We can learn there what to do while bombing, first
aid rules and some details about arms.
< ! > Our wardrobes are situated on ground
floor and in the place, which used to be air-raid shelter.
< ! > The most popular place
in the school is the school shop: "sklepik". This is a place
where you can buy delicious bread rolls with pickled cucumbers, some
microwave oven dishes and some cakes. This is the best place to eat
something, to rest, to make homework (when you've forgotten to make
it at home) and to gossip of course. The nice lady who runs the shop
usually has the latest news of what happens in the school from both
students and teachers' sources.
< ! > Students enjoy great liberty. It is
the most visible in clothing. The only restrictions are good taste and
manners.
< ! > In almost every classroom there are
TV sets with VCRs. They are very useful because we have chance to watch
e.g. some screen versions of Polish literature or documentary films.
< ! > There is radio studio in the school
and loudspeakers in almost every classroom. It is very useful when something
has to be announced. There are some broadcasts from time to time on
the occasion e.g. of St Valentine's Day, Women's Day or Sports Day.
< ! > There is a very small gym on the second
floor. It is said to be a sensation in whole Europe. If somebody doesn't
like it, they can choose body building gym, which is really well-equipped.
To sum it up I must say that the school is quite nice, teachers demanding
but helpful and the whole atmosphere pleasant.
