Nicholas Copernicus (1473-1543) - outstanding polish astronomer, mathematician, doctor, lawyer, economist, who for the first time in modern times proclaimed heliocentric model of Solar System. It said that the Earth is spinning round the Sun and round its own axis. Till his discovery, people thought that our blue planet was the centre of universe. He published his revolutional conclusions in work "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium".
